Safe Haven Community Services is a proud member of The Greater Houston Permanency Collaborative. This collaborative hosts multiple virtual information sessions each month, along with four in-person meetings annually. These sessions provide a comprehensive overview of the foster care and adoption process, including the steps to take if you’re ready to move forward. As an active participant, Safe Haven attends these meetings and encourages anyone interested in fostering or adopting to join. These gatherings are a great opportunity to learn in a no-pressure, judgment-free environment from a non-biased, multi-agency network. Whether you're just beginning to explore or already considering your next steps, these monthly sessions offer valuable insight into what fostering or adoption entails.
For families living outside of Texas who wish to adopt a child currently in the Texas foster care system, your state agency must be approved to adopt and either hold—or be willing to enter into—a contract with the state of Texas. This is required in order to complete the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC), which governs out-of-state adoptions. For more information on ICPC adoptions and how the process works, please visit State Care ICPC and Out-of-State Adoptions.
